I have recently had the pleasure of working with Martin Kay from Route to Recruitment to fill a recruitment consultant role. Blue Arrow has not used the services of a Rec-to-Rec company for over five years. When Martin initially approached me I was initially a bit hesitant as we have in the past received a poor service from Rec-to-Rec agencies.
Working with Martin however has changed my opinion. Martin is the type of guy that does not give you the usual sales lines, opting instead for facts and demonstrating his industry knowledge. We had a very specific position / person we were looking for and a short timeline to find them. Martin agreed that he would only forward candidates that he felt would be suitable for the position. True to his word Martin forwarded only one CV, within one week we offered the candidate the job.
Throughout the recruitment process, Martin was always in touch with Blue Arrow and the candidate. I was extremely impressed with Martin’s proactive approach. Martin is not a 9-5 guy, regularly in touch with both client and candidate outside the regular office hours. Needless to say the candidate he placed is performing extremely well and I was delighted with Martin’s service.
I am already in talks with Martin over future vacancies we will have and I would not consider going to his competitors regardless of what deals they may offer. Martin is a fantastic consultant that is straight forward todeal with and I would recommend him and his service to any recruitment organisation.
After making a decision to increase our headcount in 2010 we were having some difficulty in attracting the right type of talent, applications weren’t the problem, sadly however quality was proving to be. After 3 months and a dozen or so unsuccessful meetings we decided to engage Route2Recruitment on an exclusive basis. Within two weeks Martin had come up with a good option for us. We ran through the interview process and it was clear the candidate had been fully briefed on our business and importantly our culture which Martin had gone to considerable length to understand. Martin often went beyond the normal course of his duties to ensure a successful outcome was achieved and certainly exceeded our expectations.
Importantly we now have a new employee who is absolutely aligned to our vision and I’m certain will be with us for many years. Over the years, I have personally been very reluctant to utilise the services of the Rec 2 Rec market. Martin has worked in establishing a rapport and understanding of my business needs and from this initially delivered a shortlist of suitably screened, experienced and committed candidates which met both our functional and cultural requirements. From this list, I have successfully hired and started 2 exceptional candidates and have a further senior candidate at final interview, a very competent and professional response for a very difficult and challenging market sector within a short timescale.
